Nick Clegg was accused of ‘bottling it’ last night after the Government retained controversial overnight curfews and electronic tags for terror suspects.

The Deputy Prime Minister attempted to save face with his backbenchers by having the control order regime watered down and re-named Terrorism Prevention and Investigation Measures, or T-Pims.

But he was mocked after trying to claim that forcing a suspect to stay in a fixed residence overnight for up to ten hours was not a curfew.
